I have a mercedes c280. I'm vacuuming my ac system it only vacuums about 24 cfm but I should I get 28 cfm but it will hold a vacuum. Why can't I get 28 cfm?

If it holds then either your gage is wrong or the pump is worn.

how long are you running the pump?

Allow the pump to run, with both valves open, for one hour to remove all moisture. After the hour, close the valves on the gauge set and turn off the pump. Monitor the gauges for a few minutes to make sure there are no leaks.

Probably because you are using a flowmeter to try to measure vacuum, instead of a vacuum gauge, which registers in "inches of mercury" instead of "cubic feet per minute" Right tool for the right job, man.
