How well do pontiacs run?

All the US Grand Prix in 2001 have 6 cylinder engines, either the 3.1 or the 3.8L V6. The original lower intake manifold gaskets will fail sooner or later (2000 is about the peak model year affected now) as a result of being incompatible with Dexcool. GM settled a class action suit for this and the window for claims has closed. You can expect about $800 in repairs to replace the gaskets in the next few years. It only has to be done once; gaskets since 2005 are compatible with Dexcool. See the source.

Avoid like the plague. For a run in the late 90's and early 2000 had a bunch of recalls and problems mostly related to defective head gaskets. At this point, GM will no longer cover that car. They made A LOT of lemons with their small 4 and 6 cylinder engines during that span. There was even a class action lawsuit against them for it.

***EDIT*** I specifically remember MANY Pontiac models were effected by it, including a coworker that had two of them fail on her. First one was covered by warranty. Second one used was not.

They're both made by the same company. General Motors. Grand prix were more reliable. Cavalier was a cheaper model

its powered by gm

I have a 2003 chevy cavalier and the motor blew up.I'm deciding whether to buy a 2001 Pontiac grand prix with 136, 000 miles on it or keep my car.Anyone experienced bad car troubles with a grand prix?
