The check engine light is a different thing. You could run off to a mechanic shop but then you learn nothing about cars. Start with a bit of DIY and go to Autozone or equivalent car parts store and have them read the code from the computer on the car (assuming you can drive it that far). The code will tell you what engine system is not working properly. You might find a cracked vacuum hose or something simple yourself. If not then go to the mechanic shop.
You said "after" you start driving it so that sounds like the tires have a flat spot on them after setting all this time. If you keep driving the car most likely they will smooth out. As far as service engine light there are several thing that can cause that... could be something simple like changing the oil and resetting the light or a sensor as John suggested.
i dont move the car or drive it. it sits in the same spot. it stays and park and is turned on, runs for 20 minutes without problems, and then it starts to shake
guessing vacuum hose leak....but when looking at a monitor and not the actual engine one can only guess. Nothing serious. However do take it to a good mechanic and have them check it out. It will be cheaper in the long run. They can also answer the question of the service light.
Don't just start fixing things. It gets costly and usually accomplices nothing, The service engine soon light will give you a clue as to the problem. Take it to a good garage and have it fixed. It will be cheaper in the long run
sounds like a bad sensor
My 2001 Cadillac DeVille used to be my dads car but now its mine. It sat outside for 1.5 years through the winter not being started or driven. I got the car running because I get my license soon and I want to drive it. All I've done is get it started and cleaned it all up. At first the car runs great AC and everything work sounds smooth but after running it in park for 20 minute or so to keep it running until I drive it, it starts shaking and rumbling like the whole car shakes. It says service engine soon on the dash board that's the only light on so how do I fix this? Change all the fluids or do I need to bring it in for a tune up? Thanks
