There are some 'Xenon' bulbs which simply replace the bulb, but if you buy a true HID kit, it will take you about an hour to fit - you have to pull the wires from the original bulbs, fit them to a 'ballast' which is about the size of a cell-phone, which is what generates the VERY high voltage they use, and then swap the cars' bulbs for the new HID ones. Get a grown-up to help if this is beyond you!

these days you only replace the bulb which on most cars you raise the hood unplug the wires and you will have a) a retaning clip or b) it will be 1/4 turn of the bulb itself a wild quess would be left but this is only a guess
Yes,do not touch the new bulb with your fingers unless you wear gloves.As for advice at the auto parts store.
