How to increase horsepower in a 2010 Kia Rio?

You know, those aftermarket performance parts makers always make outrageous claims about how dramatic the HP increases are.

The key words in their ads are "up to", meaning (if you read between the lines) anywhere from 1 "up to" 20 additional H/P with our product.

Now the engine that MAY see a 20 HP increase is like a 502" big block V8 with a high lift cam etc etc., and the engine that will see (maybe, if you're lucky) a 2 HP increase is yours, when it's replacing a factory filter setup.

Maybe those "cold air intakes " LOOK cool, but they're really not worth the money spent if you're expecting dramatic results.

Changing the wheel size may make it feel more powerful. You can't do too much. Just keep it tuned up properly, correct air pressure in the tires & use high test gasoline. Next time, test drive a car before buying it and you won't be as disappointed.

Any reputable site will tell you a cold air intake is worthless. While you are putting the cold air intake on, you might as well install some iridium spark plugs. There is the saying that "A fool and his money...".

you push it off a cliff, itll be real fast for about 3 seconds, fastest that car will ever go.

edit* son i wasnt being funny, you own an econobox, its not ever gonna be fast and economical. this is why i laugh at those racers with there hondas lol, seriously? those little bitty torque converter bolts hold all that power? its magic bolts, or maybe it aint hot as you thought! a v8 would sheer those on the first jack rabbit start!

Get a high performance car like Porsche 911.

Problem solved.

Lift up the radiator cap and drive a new car under it.

you press the magic button. then POOF. horse power.

Before I begin, YES I KNOW A RIO IS VERY BASIC AND THE HORSEPOWER SHOULDN'T BE TAMPERED WITH, AND NO I'M NOT GOING TO DO AN ENGINE SWAP.

Now that we have that out of the way, any ideas on ways to boost engine performance? It has fairly low mileage, 60K. I've been told that a decent cold air intake can give me up to a 10 hp boost, depending on how good the intake is, but is there anything else I can do? No sarcastic or condescending comments please, just looking for car advice, thx.
