How to fix range rover v8 with blown head gusket?

If BOTH sets of plugs on this two-headed V8 engine are getting wet, then it's not ONE head-gasket which is at fault, is it? Check if water is getting into both, which would suggest a water-channel in a water-heated inlet manifold has broken, or something along those lines.

IF it is just one bank of the engine with wet plugs, then you need to remove that head, and take it to your local machine shop. They can examine it, weld up any problems, check it for flatness and skim it juuust a little to make sure it behaves when you re-fit it. Even if you have to do BOTH heads, it's the work of a weekend if you follow a good Haynes manual or similar.

Good luck with that.

Run a compression test on the cylinders to know for sure. You can also put a dye in the radiator to see if exhaust fumes are escaping through there.

watch out boys, theres a gangster here, omg hes getting angry quick go go!

just bought a Range rover vogue 2005 4.4 petrol v8. It was not moving for a while as it was stolen recovered. I bought a new battery and the car would not start. My mate opened up the plugs and found water dried them and car started but with loads of white smoke from exhaust with water. Oil deep is clear no mixture with water but car now not starting as water back in plugs. Water bubbling through water tank with coolant as u try and start it. Does the mean the head is definately gone and also is the block safe or I need to replace the whole lot through a garage.
