You remove the head, scrape off the gasket, send it to a machine shop so they can refinish it, put on a new gasket and torque it as specified for that engine. It isn't easy.
Say goodbye to the car. Every time a head gasket blows, so does most mEcHaNiCs" that fix it. Only to blow again...Meanwhile you'll have a car that has little h.p. and run like crap..cheaper and better to find an old Honda with high miles, that passed smog, and has had a recent timing belt, water pump, pulley replacement, by a reputable shop.
This is a silly question if you don't have the skills to do the job right, you could cause more damage in the end.
Take the head of - find the CAUSE of the blow, fix that and fit a new gasket.
Changing a head gasket is not a job for a novice DIY mechanic, there are too many things to know, to mess up, really. Then you will just have to pay a qualified mechanic to do costing you twice as much.
Unless the car is mint or you just really love the car get a new car cheep then part out and scrap it
This is like a sequel to my last question. How do I fix a blown head gasket for a 1997 Mazda Millenia?
