a centre punch with a hammer gives a drill a bit of a start.
if it was me i would mount the plates to the car useing double sided tape or even some one to hold them and move them about till am happy with the location mark where the holes are and drill them out get 4 small bolts and a few washers atach it that way do the same on the back thats the only way i can think
i wouldnt go to the dealership for some thing so easy for them to charge you a shed load
If you buy number plate tape from Halfords it will stick them securely. If you clean both surfaces thoroughly prior to applying the tape I guarantee the fix will be permanent.
There has to be a factory way to mount the plates - That's the law. Look around at other cars like yours & see what they are doing. If your car has a real steel chromed bumper, they are quite hard to drill & the holes will start to rust over night. If it's a plastic bumper 'cover', no big deal.
My car came with sticky adhesive pads on the umberplates when I bought it, I had to change the plates as the back was deteriorating. I ordered new plates but couldn't find holes when I removed them both, due to the curvature at the front they don't mould, is there any way I can drill holes into my bumper or should I head to a main dealer garage (vw) to get them fitted and drilled?
Thanks, the back isn't bad although is only held by velcro tape and id rather they were held on by screws as they can be pulled off very easily.
