How soon should I replace my car battery?

A battery shop should be able to test it to see if it's still OK but they don't like doing so too often as the test itself can reduce battery life.

So long as the engine turns over without any hesitation it should be fine. The number of miles driven shouldn't make any difference if anything it should improve the battery as it's been kept well charged.

My experience for batteries in new vehicles in the Chicago area is 5.5 years, but replacement batteries depend upon what type you get (generally about 3-4 years).

But not sure about Chrysler cars. When I went to visit my grandmother once and the battery was dead from lack of use, I went to replace the battery in her Plymouth Volare and there was a little tiny battery inside of a plastic box that made it look like a bigger battery (although, that was in Florida).

Hi battey replacement has more to do with use than mileage and weather conditions usually 3-4 years is the normal life of most batteries when used in the northern hemisphere.

should replace it when it fails a load test. you take your CCA and divide it by 2 this is the load you put on it. you can buy a battery load tester for about $100 or cheaper. there are many types from fixed loads to ranging loads. one where you can control the load is the best one. you also have to check for a dead cell because sometimes it can pass a load test and still be bad with a dead cell. but if I was you I would save the $ and go to your local parts store with how to check to get it checked for free and you now know how. a replacement battery usually lasts 4-5 years on average but I have seen original ones last 7 years on average

It's to do with how cold the car battery gets. If you always park it inside an insulated garage then the battery should last a long time.

You need to have a battery load test done to see what the reserve amperage capacity is, Amperage spins starter motors not voltage. The dealer will more than likely do this test free.

the original battery should be good for about 5 years but you can have it tested to make sure. most shops can do this in a short time.

after 4 years, you're living on borrowed time. Replace it

I have a 2012 Dodge Avenger and I haven't noticed any battery weakening signs yet. I normally wouldn't worry because it's still kinda new but the car has 40 thousand miles. And the battery is in the worst and most inconvenient spot (remove the front left wheel and some padding stuff and it's located in the bumper). I drive everyday so I cannot be stranded
