Your car does not have conventional shock absorbers. Rather it has "suspension struts" which are similar to shock absorbers, but are also a structural part of the suspension (very common). You can expect a cost of at least $1000 to have this repair completed.
Between $600 and $1100, depending how far you go with it. There is a service bulletin for the front strut mounts which means it would be best to buy "super struts". These come preassembled with new springs and mounts. The sway bar endlinks are probably noisy as are the rear sway bar bushings. I've seen alot of these cars with bad left side transmission mounts that cause a horrible rattle around corners. Honestly never seen the control arm bushing problem previously mentioned.
Never buy parts on line and expect a mechanic to want to deal with the parts a customer purchased! They won't warranty your parts!
Before spending money on struts I'd have the rear control arms inspected. They have a common problem with the bushings that makes the vehicle unsafe. It's costly to repair and there's a high probability yours are bad.
Your car does not have shock absorbers! First you must decide how much longer you plan to keep the car. Bilstein & KYB are the best quality Struts. They're mush better quality than the products Midas, Oreilys and Sears sells.
partstrain.com has both brands.
Regardless what you heard from the first person who "didn't" answer your question, changing struts most certainly is a car maintenance question!
I dont know anyone who's a mechanic. Nor do I know much about vehicles. I do know that my shocks need to be replaced, all 4 of them. Which shop (Midas, Oreily's, Sears Auto, etc) would be best for me to go thats also affordable as well? & would it be cheaper if I were to purchase the parts online, & just pay for labor to get it replaced or take it to the shop?
