How much should brakes and rotors cost?

ach car is different.. a basic car not any thing expensive when new. and you go basic bottom end parts brakes may be 25-40 bucks and axle. and the rotors and vary. you may not need rotors yeah you have possibly damaged them due to the brakes grinding into them but in my opinion if the car is old I would worry to much about it. if you plan on keeping the car more than a few years rotors can run from 30-100 bucks a piece.. go look on Amazon for rotors and also look on various local car part stores sites for a better price. If you have an Autozone in your area they have lifetime brake pads. So you buy the pads use them and when it comes time to change brakes you go buy another set from autozone and bring back the old ones and they credit the card back. few people know this or remember two years later. for one of my cars I got the ceramic brakes 6 yrs ago and havent paid for a new set since done it twice since then so they paid for themselves already. Yes ceramics they last longer a bit harsher on the rotors but no brake dust and less noise.. dont have the stopping power of a great set of semi but I dont tow either so for me they work out..

First off, you need to take a look at the brakes and see what needs changed. Plenty of videos on youtube to guide you. Then you'll need to call the local parts store and ask. Does your boyfriend know what he's doing? Get a manual while you're picking up the parts. Don't buy rotors unless they are needed.

1st do not drive it more... Do a Google or eBay search for: "Brake Discs (followed by) the make and model, year of car et.c). If the Disc rotor(s) are not too badly scored too bad or worn thin then just new brakes pads might do. BUT Always change both sides of the car in pairs always!!!!. Never never just fix the brakes on just one wheel. Both fronts wheels and or both rear brakes. Brakes are so important do not regret spending on them

Depends on the vehicle. You left that out of your question.

With and without labor? I may be able to wait till the weekend, so my bf can change them to save some money. Theyve been squeeking a lil , so i know i needed to take them in.. but now theyre grinding. Seemed to have just started today. freaking out ...dont have a ton of extra money to fix this, but i also dont wanna even drive it anymore.
