How much is car engine oil life if it is used 200 km per month?

The ONLY people that are still recommending oil changes every 3 months or 3,000 miles are the people who sell engine oil. Because of the improvements made in the past few years, MOST automobile manufacturers have moved their recommendations to 5,000 or even 7,500 miles between oil changes. READ the owner's manual that comes with your car.

Even if my vehicles don't run that many miles, I still like to change my oil every 6 months or so. A new filter and fresh oil will remove harmful contaminates from the engine and MAY help the engine last longer.

Hello

Check with the maker of your car. They will have a service record booklet for your car.

My Vauxhall recommends 1 service a year or 10,000 Miles to change the engine oil if a normal mileage is done. If high mileage (20,000 miles) the twice a year.

However if you go to a normal garage they will ask if you want the Short or Long Service. The Short they check and top up the engine oil. The long they replace it

So where you go can make a difference

Your car's owner manual should tell you the oil change interval usually will say x amount of km or x months between oil change. For the US it is generally 3000 miles or 3 months with same cars going with 5000 or 6months. Also your car might have a feature like my Mustang that calculates how much life the oil has left and tells you when to change.

Please read the owners manual on the glove compartment of your car. Go to the index and look-up the engine oil and engine oil change section. You could drive at least one year with your driving schedule before it's time to change the oil. If you were using full-synthetic oil, more than likely you should drive two years before an oil change is necessary.

Wish we knew if most of your driving is done in town or highway! Town driving is the worse type for motor oil life. Slow driving does not get the condensation out of the crankcase. High-speed, long distance type driving is the easiest on the engine and motor oil.

Since regular motor oil breaks down and it's recommended by the manufacturer to change the oil in 3 month time intervals as well as the mileage driven, I'd say in your case using Mobil 1 synthetic oil which has no time schedule for changing would be best as you probably could drive for a year with out having to change the oil.

You're supposed to change the oil and filter at 3000 miles, but I prefer using a great oil filter like the one made by Fram with the silver and black colored shell and Mobile One synthetic oil or Royal Purple. If you use synthetic, the oil change intervals can be changed to 5000-7500 miles instead of 3000.Stop and go traffic is harder on engine oil than highway traffic is,but I still go by 5000-7500 mile philosophy

What ever your owner's manual says.
