The term "Tune up" is rather outdated. This was something you did to your car back in the the days of point ignition systems and carburetors. With modern cars with fuel infection and electronic ignition, maintenance is the more common term for keeping your car running smooth. Check your owners manual for the maintenance schedule and follow what it says and your car should stay running good for many years. If your car is running bad, then there is something wrong with it and it needs to be diagnosed by a qualified mechanic. There isn't much on a modern car than can be diagnosed by the average person without the proper tools. In other words, a "tune up" will not fix a poorly running car.
Stumann has explained it excellently. Please tell your teen friends the same. Pass it along and thank you for writing in absolute perfect English. You are above, way above average. Good luck with the vehicle. Go find a mechanic and explain what is the problem.
How much money you got. Probably cost a bit more than that
Just dont take it to the dealership.
