How much horsepower does my 350 put out?

HI chances are you have 350 hp. sometimes that is easy with a mild build.. but really need to know cam specs.. Warping the headers well keep under hood temps down and may save the starter.. with headers your starter may get heat sink problems and cause hard starting... so be sure to ether get a mini-starter or wrap the starter .. Also FYI.. you should only use boring to clean up cylinder walls not for power you don't gain much with over boring other than thinning the cylinder walls and causing a over heating issue.. ON a 460 you only gain 6 cu, in. on a 30 over bore. Stroking gets you the most bang for your buck..

good luck

It's impossible to say because a well setup stock engine could put out more power than your if badly set up. Next power isn't everything. If your power band us too narrow for the gear ratios you'll bog down on changes. Why do you need to know. This sort of question generally indicates insecurities in the trouser department.

Talk to Summit Racing, they know all there is to know. What's your budget?

Correctly set-up and dyno'd, your car should make (all old V8's should be able to be tuned to make) at least one horsepower per cubic inch capacity, so 350cu.in = 350bhp at the flywheel.

Wrap your headers in socks or bandages to keep under-hood temperatures low, and strip the interior of dead-weight.

Lots of room for improvement on those heads. They were great in 1968

Yes, we'd have to know cam specs......but perhaps biggest factor is compression ratio, ????

It's a chevy 350 that's bored 40 over it has double hump heads, an edelbrock aluminum intake, 650 holley carb, high flow air filter, MSD distributer, headers and 2.5" dual exhaust, it has a performance cam but I don't know the details on it. Thanks for the help guys!

PS: it's in my 78 nova and I'd love suggestions on upgrades I can still do.
