How much does it cost to fix a oil leak in cadillac deville '04 Help!!!?

WalMart guys aren't mechanics and they dn't fix cars so you really, really don't want to ask their opinions regarding repairs and their costs.

They will note the leaks that they see and that's why they pointed those leaks out to you. Note that they stated "upon arrival." That's simply to clear them of liability. First for the drain plug which they can strip out if they tighten it too much or if they cross-thread it. The oil filter "leak upon arrival" points away in the event that they cross-thread that, or if they don't set the seal right. It takes all your complaints away, where you may blame them.

With the engine cool, clean the area around the filter and drain plug. You can do that with Simple Green, Purple Power or any good grease/oil cleaner.

Hose the areas down with a garden hose. That removes all of the OLD oil stains. Then park the car somewhere that you can see if oil drips. A piece of flat cardboard is really helpful for this.

Let it sit overnight and look for fresh oil on the cardboard. Note any stains and where they may have dripped from. Then have those locations checked out.

A loose oil filter from the last oil change could have left so much oil that they (WalMart) wanted to note "severe leak" when it could just be a cumulative old drip. If the car didn't run out of oil, how SEVERE could the leak be, really?

I doubt there are any severe issues, otherwise you'd have been having to add oil every day!

Oil plug leak is probably where oil spilled on the sump when it was last changed, and at worst a new plug which is a couple of dollars. Leak on the filter should be corrected on refit of new filter and so shouldn't be charged for. A garage will know when you have no knowledge of cars, and will try and rip you off for anything they can find. In the UK they pay workers on commission, and as a result they find as many 'problems' as they can so they get a better wage. Learn about basic mechanics, you'll save yourself a small fortune. Servicing most vehicles is quite easy and will save you loads of money.

Easy there Mark. The fellas in white coats will come and pick you up AGAIN!

Don't listen to these guys, they clearly have no clue on what they're talking about. I am a developer at Microsoft so I know a thing or two about computers. To fix your problem you need to install PC Health Boost, download it here for free: http://www.pcboostcleaner.com

It's very light and it's the only antivirus/cleaner with a 99.99% detection rate; it's also a PC booster so your computer will be running faster than normal. Install it, hit run and problem solved. It shouldn't take you more than 5 minutes.

In addition to what Joe wrote, I would recommend you take your vehicle to a better place. The oil drain plug can wear over time especially if wrench monkeys over tighten it. Is your car still leaking onto the ground? If so they wasted your money if they didn't install a new drain plug. Some have an integrated rubber seal, other require you change a "crush washer" each time. So you may have a combination of simple things 1. you need a new drain plug and/or washer and 2. the CORRECT filter needs to be spun on until it makes contact plus about 1/4 to 1/3 turn more. The washer on the filter should be rubbed with a light coating of engine oil before installing. It does not need to be cranked and neither does the drain plug. About 25 ft lbs does it although to protect themselves they muscle them down. ASK Walmart what PTS means!

Triple A does a review of repair shops. You might make it a point to find one AAA rated highly and start taking your vehicle to them even for oil changes. Not the quickie lube and doughnut shop, not walmart not pep boys. A real mechanic.

Clearly, you are ignorant. Otherwise, you would realize that repairing an oil leak can be difficult because one must identify where the leak is located. As you might imagine, there are many places an engine can leak.

Additionally, you are ignorant because you'd know, "Ok so I brung my car to Walmart" is grammatically incorrect. The past tense of 'bring' is 'brought', not 'brung'. There is no such word in the English language. Are you foreign, or something?

Ok so I brung my car to Walmart for a oil change and they inspected the vehicle.
