It costs about $25-$75 depending on what kind of oil you choose and where you take it. If you go to a place like Jiffy Lube and drive a typical car it'll be close to the low end, and if you have a super duty diesel that takes 12 quarts and take it to the best mechanic in MD, you'll end up paying a little more.
Most cars on the road leave a drop or two of oil from time to time, usually stuff that drips down from the top of the motor where the valve covers are, or a slow leak from the oil pan or main seal. It's no big deal as long as you check your oil periodically (you DO check it, don't you?), but of course if you've got a designated spot there could be added pressure from your property management company.
You need to find the source of that leak before you throw more petroleum based oil or synthetic lube into it. You may or may not know that the plug at the bottom of the oil pan probably needs a new washer. Some owner's manual mention it as a requirement. If your oil change guy didn't do that, start with that.
I bought three oil changes for $54 so a single one shouldn't be more than 25 bucks
A standard oil change cost about $30. That will usually not stop your oil leak, unless it is leaking at the filter which is usually not the case.
$40. Ask them to check for a fluid leak.. (assuming you're going to a real mechanic and not a jiffy lube)
There is an accumulation of droplet marks on the asphalt of my parking space in my town-home neighborhood. Every fiber in my body is screaming "no!!!" (I don't make generous paychecks), but if there is an elephant in the room....you need to look at it. I took my car in today to a shop that has been voted "best in MD" a couple times and they are going to inspect every nook and cranny of the car, just because this car was a hand-me-down and I want peace of mind.
How much does the standard oil change set you back?
