its fine to go a few hundred miles over if you have to , just get it changed as soon as you can and don't drive it hard ( shift early and don't rev high )
most cars after year 2000 can go 5500 miles or more between oil changes. look in your owners manual for miles between oil changes
its nothing to worry about. most oil changes are designed to be carried out before serious oil degradation takes place so unless we have a racing car? where oil temperatures run exceptionally high and it works harder than average oils.. even a couple of thousand past won't do any damage.

What make, model and year. Check your manual for oil change intervals, sometimes the oil change places says it is 3000 miles and is actually 5000. Synthetics can go 7500.
Look for the post from a guy who said he went 30,000 miles without and oil change, got and oil change and now car is smoking a lot. Seriously, it is out there.
This makes me a little crazy. OPEN YOUR HOOD and check condition of oil. STOP USING REG OIL and get on board the synthetic train. Euro cars. E .g. Must have oil with special additives or damage occurs. Junk yards are full of engines using bad Reg oil and pretend synthetics like Valvoiline is. Synth oil lasts up to five times longer as it will not beak down or succumb to heat or leave waxy tarry coatings to bake into metals. <<<
