Really it depends on what's causing the flats. If you're blowing the tyres out on pot holes or kerbs etc, then maybe you should take more care driving. If it's nails/screws/glass/etc punturing your tyres, maybe try and figure out where you've been driving that could have been the problem and avoid it. If you're having blowouts, change your tyres more regularly and make sure they are the right specification for the car and the speeds you are doing.
Three in a year would be extremely unlucky. I've had three in the ten years I've been driving. One was completely my fault - just after I passed my test I misjudged a corner and caught the back tyre on a low wall. The second was a screw and couldn't have been avoided, the third was some nutter getting angry I parked outside his house.
It depends on where you normally drive your car. I have had maybe three flat tires in the last decade or more. But if you drive on harsh roads or where you run the risk of punctures, then you will have more flat tires.
Rotation & Alignment slows down the wear on tires. Rotate them every time you have an oil change (3 months, 3000 miles, or check owners manual). Check alignment at least once a year.
Go easy on dips or speed bumps. Avoid potholes.
i havnt got a flat tire in 15 years ive woke up to find one flat but no blowouts i do drive a vette cant see what that would change
What makes the tires go flat, nails or other?
Building trades guys are sloppy. If you live in an area where there's a lot of construction going on then the odds are stacked against you. There will be debris on the roads.
The condition of your tires has a lot to do with it. The more worn out they are, the less protection they have, and you will have more problems.
Is it normal to get flat tires up to three times a year, or do I just not deserve a car?
