How long does it take to paint a car hood?

That sounds right. They will most likely reseal it. Then the base sprays on real thin and dries very fast. The clearcoat however goes on in several coats and takes longer do dry.

They could have it sprayed in a couple hours though it needs to dry overnight so it's solid. But then it's good to go. They may need to wet sand and wheel it but that doesn't take very long at all. That's why they all use the base clear system because its faster than waiting for the single stage to dry which could take several days to a week or two before you can wetsand it.

I don't think they are rushing it and cutting corners and giving it back to you before it's done properly, that's just all it takes.

you can do two things to affect the speed of a paint shop. Pay in advance and ask a bunch of questions. This will stop all work from getting done. Pay on delivery and stay away. this will speed everything up.

The paint will be baked (hopefully) so it would take about 4 hours max. It is just whern they get around to it with the other work.

Just what about tomorrow don't you understand.

I'm waiting to receive my car back from the shop and he said they just had to paint it which they would today and it would be ready by tomorrow. It IS a brand new hood, so I'm assuming it came primered and ready for paint, but does that sound right? Only one day to paint and clear coat?
