How do you get the half shaft out of the transmission on a front wheel drive car when it won't pull out or pry?

i used to use a set of heel bars. now i just use a slight hooked bar. quick pop and out they come, never had 1 stick since using this bar. similar to a heel bar. but no heel.

i pull atleast 1 set of axles daily. yesterday i removed 3 sets

HI, there is a large snap ring inside holding the shaft into the transmission. You should be able to access it from the outside by pulling the boot off.

good luck

The inner axle has a big tough snap ring inside the transmission. You need to figure out a way to *pry the inner CV joint outwards with a short crow-bar or wonder-bar.

Find a solid place to on the half-shaft to hammer it out. If not, get something that will grab a hold of it and yank on it.

The year , make, and model may help us figure this out. Are there no clips or retaining items holding this shaft in place?
