not the lens cover, the plastic surround should either have some small torx screws in it, possibly under plastic caps, or if not, the plastic surround will just pull off, just go round the edge loosening it, it will have about 5-6 plastic clips holding it

My Skoda was a real issue to get to.
I don't think you should be pulling off the 'red lense cover'. In all of the cars I've owned, you get to the bulb from the inside of the car, not the outside.
The specifics of how to do it are different with each model of car, try googling your car model for instructions or checking the manual. Or just nip to a garage/dealer/halfords/etc and pay someone else to do it.
The Owners Manual usually tells how to replace bulbs for your specific vehicle.
Without the make and model of the car not even a so called mechanic can give you a definite answer to that
