Funny thing is the string ray also has valve timing.
VTEC= Variable Valve Timing Electronic Control.
VTEC is just the cam profile changing at a higher rmp, you'll probably hear it around 4-5k rpm. The new stingray is putting out about twice the prower though.
You don't notice as there is no sudden change in power.
All that happens in the engine changes the cam / valve timing at a certain point. At low RPM it's one setting, that gives more power and torque at low revs. As the engine revs up the computer changes to the higher RPM setting. At the changeover point it's probably the same on each setting,
If the VTEC doesn't kick in the max power might only be a 4,000 rpm. So when the engine reaches that range, it changes to a more aggressive high RPM position, which produces max power as (say) 7,5000 rpm.
If the engine stayed at the Hi speed setting it would have a lousy idle, no low end power, and poor fuel economy. This way it can operate in a more sedate mode, and a highly tuned performance mode.
Hi get a life here there is no way you are going to beat a Stingray with that heap of junk. the vote is a type of valve timing which works all the time. it stands for variable valve timing part of the car as it is. so brother where do you get som silly idea about racing against a huge great car like a corvette stingray. what a joke you are.
having worked on this beast of a car it is so powerful and quick. what you have is a joke when compared to such a beast.
What kicks in? Your four cylinder motor didn't come from the factory with a turbocharger or supercharger. A new 460 horse Corvette will dust you off big time. Corvettes have had variable valve timing for the past 15 years. Don't even try a Z06 Corvette. All you'll see is tail-lights for three seconds. Off the showroom floor they do a quarter mile in 10.9 seconds.
In either case all you will do is embarrass yourself.
Cant stop laughing at this and the comments lmao
When Vtec kicks in, 1000 unicorns fart at the same time
VTEC = Very Tiny Engine is Crappy
Haven't even broken in the engine and racing it...
No wonder there is such a market for those engines.
you don't, it just does, Vtec is not a turbo, LOL.
Just got a new Civic Si and let me say: its all power. Looking to race the new Stingray Corvette next week. Problem is though, when does the Vtec kick in? I floored the gas and held it down but I still have no idea when it kicks. I guess when it kicks in it adds more horsepower to the car?
if you just got this car and racing a new corvette you would get smoked.
You can hear it
