How do I go about changing my locks?

It is not terribly difficult to do yourself or you could call a locksmith.

You could go to lowes or home depot and buy new locks for all your doors and put them on yourself. Get locks that are keyed are already keyed a like or have lowes or home depot rekey them to all use the same key.

If you have nice matching locks and knobs on all the doors already then a locksmith could just rekey the existing locks and not replace them.

Any handyman. Go down to Lowes/Home Depot, and purchase locksets for each entry door to the house.

I always advise people about the site I attached here.

There is information on everything and they are amazing people as call they answer every question.

Highly recommended.

There is no doubt that changing the original key while moving to a new house is a smart decision. In order to accomplish that, you will need to contact a reliable locksmith service which can do the job for you. While giving them a call, make sure you have provided them your exact requirement.

You can do this if it's a quick and easy procedure. Just three things you will need: brand door lock, screwdriver and drill.

Take measurement from latch of door to center of door knob.

Remove the screws from the old door lock and edge of the door.

Pull each half of the lock out of the door after the screws are removed.

Insert new door lock. Insert screws into edge of the door and secure tightly.

If isn’t possible you can call local locksmith.

Unless you have Baldwin cartridge locks that are mortised into the door body changing locks is simple ,,,,, 4 screws , 2 for the bolt and 2 for the handle .

You can pick up lock sets with matching keys or the Kwikset with " quick key " matching .

2 screws release the knob , pull it out . 2 screws release the bolt , pull it out .

Assemble in reverse order .

I just bought a house a month ago and I need to change the locks. My realtor said it's a good idea since you never know who has an extra key. I've heard this is something a professional should do since it can be tricky. I also do not know at all how to do it (unless the directions are easy enough for a novice).

Do I call a locksmith or somebody else? Who does this type of thing?
