How can you fix "Bad Gas"???....?

It sounds like water in the tank from the gas station. This happens more than you know. But that usually stalls the engine more so. This might be a diesel fuel mistake. And like some are saying it has to come out.

The fact that yo just installed a CD player suggests that maybe you recently bought the car -- if you haven't owned it long, you must suspect that the reason the previous owner sold it was because it was showing problems. If so, you have detective work to do. If you've had it a while, and this happened after fillling the fuel tank, you likely got dirty or watery gas. The ethanol which constitutes today's gasoline evaporates easily, chilling the air above and causing water vapor to condense and drop into the fuel - once there, the water bonds with the alcohol and drops to the bottom of the tank -- the pickup tube fills from the bottom of the tank. If you have dirty or watery fuel you must get it out of there, or try to drive it out. Suggest new fuel filter, siphon out as much as you can get out from the tank, then refill with known fresh gas. If you do both of these things, you'll know within 50 miles whether you've fixed the problem.

Hi everyone... I have an 03 Nissan Maxima..there's over 200, 000 miles on it..the check engine light was on prior to all this going on...I was told It may need another fuel pump because this particular cat first have a gas filter-- just a strainer....I put in STP yesterday & thought it would b ok..but now it barely will stay crunk & when I do crank it up & put it in gear- it won't move at all....do I just need to let it stay parked & unbotheterec to let the gas resettle or something...

Gas not likely to go bad unless you leave it sit for a very long time as in years . Water in gas just does not happen often . Blown head gaskets cracked heads and the like will cause what you described . Could be as simple as a clogged fuel filter .

You could drive it again and as soon as you park look under the car and see if the catalytic converter or pipe out of it is red hot . this happens when your head is cracked and fuel is not getting burned and ignites in the converter . Almost burned my car down one time because of this .

What is the year, make, model and miles. That is important to know. It could be the fuel pump.

Maybe a vacuum hose leak, or crankshaft position sensor. Any CEL, if so go to auto parts store and give us the codes.

No way to fix bad gas. You just have to run it out, or drain the tank. And avoid that gas station in the future. But, it may or may not be bad gas. Could be a mechanical failure such as fuel pump or fuel filter. Only a clean tank of gas will tell. Is your check engine light on?

change your fuel filter

it could be flooded, meaning there is too much gas in the cylinders. The way to fix that is spit the surplus gas out with revving. On my car, I have to hold the gas pedal to the floor, turn the key and the second it starts let off the gas pedal then rev it a few times to keep it from stalling out.. and to spit out the flooded gas. then it runs fine. I flooded my engine a lot when I was first learning to drive a stick... seemed like every time I made a turn I had to rev to spit out the flooded gas.

So, goes like this Hold gas pedal all the way to the floor, turn the key, keep holding gas pedal to the floor, when its trying to crank keep holding pedal down, when it finally goes VROOOM, let off the gas real fast then rev a couple times until it can idle without dying. you see those rpms dropping too far, rev it to keep it running. Not big revs, just little taps.

If you have water in your gastank from condensation (older cars) just put a bottle of HEET in there. ITs a yellow bottle, cant miss it. water in gas can make it act like that too.

My car jerks and poots too (the one I learned stick on) and its from being flooded or being in too high a gear for the speed i'm going... homebuilts have a lot of quirks.

If you were trying to go up a steep hill in like, 3rd or 4th gear, the jerking and pooting would be expected. Do that in 2nd.

My car has been acting funny all week, so yesterday I put n STP GAS TREATMENT.. Today I had a CD player installed & it was park on a steep hill. After leaving off the hill & on level road my car barely would go...I drove it fast down the highway & when I stopped to turn around, it cut off & wouldn't crank back up. After A few tries it finally stayed crunk, but even with my foot on the gas- it wasnt getting any gas..it was just kinda sitting there & jerking & pooting out of my back tale pipe. Finally it idled back up & I just put it n reverse & drove back home as fast as I could out of fear that it would shut off again. True enough as soon as I got n my driveway it shut off & wouldn't recognize my foot

bein on the gas pedal. What IS WRONG!! PLEASE HELP ME
