Haw do I locate see if my fule pump is bad?

Unlike EUROPEAN and most ASIAN cars, domestic car models require removing the FUEL TANK for fuel pump replacements.CHANGE FUEL FILTER as a matter of course! A clogged up FILTER wil over work any fuel pump and it can overheat and fail! GOOD LUCK!!

If the vehicle is fuel injected, the pump is inside the fuel tank. You can lift the backseat up and if there is a plate bolted down to the floorboard, you can remove that plate to get to the pump.If a plate isn't there, youll have to drop the fuel tank in order to remove the pump. The fuel pump should run for 2-4 seconds when you first turn the key on so listen for it to run.If its not making a sound, remove the fuel pump relay, use a multimeter to test for battery voltage at the relay connecter with the ignition key on/engine off.If no voltage, there is a short or open between the connecter and computer, connecter and computer power relay,or connecter and ignition switch. If voltage is present, the fuel pump relay may be bad.Borrow a relay from somewhere else in the panel(any relay with a identical part # will work)and swap it in place of the suspected faulty pump relay to see if the fuel pump works now.If pump still isn't working, remove wiring harness at fuel pump on top of fuel tank.

Turn the key to the ON position and listen for it to hum

What are you asking? Do you want to know where your fuel pump is? If so, include the year, make, and model of vehicle.

Or are you asking how to test if it is bad? If so, check the fuel pressure.
