For gosh sakes! the dealer of the car wouldn't have ripped you that bad. It pays to have an inexpensive volt meter and you could have tested the alternator voltage yourself.
Call the auto shop tell them what happened and that your car is dead again after they recommended replacing the battery return your battery under warranty bring it with you.. if the shop will not help call their corporate office and tell them what happened have your receipt which should have your R.O. number (repair order) for their reference.
Autozone can test your battery and alternator for free.
My opinion is never go back there again.
The first mechanic either lied or was stupid, either way you now learn to never go to that mechanic again. Looks like you should keep going to auto-zone in the future.
You are mad about your alternator. DEAL WITH IT.
I have a 2005 Nissan Sentra that had been having some starting trouble, until one day it just completely died so I went and bought a battery and my dad installed it just to find that the car still died after 15 min of idling. My dad said it was probably the alternator.
So the next day we jumped it and drove it down the street to the mechanic. They told me they had run a full diagnostic and the battery was bad--- even though I had just bought that one the day before. So my dad and I went and exchanged the battery brought it back to the mechanic, he installed it and charged me $132.60 for the full diagnostic test.
I drove the car home, the very next day my battery alert light came on I was like WTF?? So I took it to Auto Zone and they hooked a little thingy up to my car and told me it was the F*^%#* ALTERNATOR!
The man told me my car was running off the battery only, I needed to take it home immediately no A/C, no radio just drive it then park it.
So you mean to tell me the mechanic the day before really did a FULL diagnostic as I paid for?? On my bill it says
TEST CHRG SYS AN R/R BATTERY - adjusted price $100 ($2.60 tax) and $30 labor... Labor really?.... so did they only test the charge on my battery (something I could have gotten done for free) and NOT give me a full diagnostic? I'm not even sure how to address them with this because I have to take it back to get my alternator fixed ... Did they rip me off or am I just mad about my alternator?
