You might be able (or might need to) adjust the tension on the e-brake cable, tightening it so that when you pull the lever it clamps down harder on the rear brakes, but since your car is still pretty new it's also possible that the system simply isn't designed to provide enough clamping force on the rear brakes to initiate a good rear-skid to execute a handbrake turn on tarmac. If the cable is already sufficiently tight and at the proper tension, I wouldn't tighten it further because you risk breaking it.
The handbrake is a PARKING brake. Not an emergency brake. It is meant to just hold the car when parked on a hill.
, Now you know what it was designed for.
It works on ice and snow like it does on wet grass because there is no traction.
Ok, I need a little more information.. is your hand break not working?? There is a cable under the bottom of your car that connects to the emergency breaks on the car..
Hitler is spinning in his grave.
Hey guys, I have a Volkswagen Polo 1.2 TDI 2012.
Now before you say anything I know I shouldn't do it, I've been doing handbrake turns Lol.
Only problem is, it seems to do them fine on grass, but when I do them on Tarmac, the car just slows down and then maybe does a tiny little skid, it's like the wheels ain't locking, even with traction control off. I know polos aren't designed for this but still, I just wondered why it won't do it, is there some safety feature else where stopping it? Even if I'm doing like 35mph the car still barely skids, it just slows down.
Any answers will be appreciated :)
