Ignition on/off 10 times in a row - without starting the engine - usually fixes the check engine light if it needs resetting. Not sure if that's a myth though if i'm honest.

whats getting a fuel filter replacement got to do with your check engine light from displaying..the car went in for a new fuel filter ,nothing else. the engine management light is your problem not the garage . will cost you another ￡60 to get it switched off ,only takes 1minute to do.. YOU CAN RESET IT YOURSELF, turn ignition ON & OFF 10 times in a row without starting engine. the yellow symbol light should now be off when you start engine.

Literally got the car back from the garage where they charged ￡60 to change fuel filter because it was pissing petrol on the floor and now after driving 14 miles the check engine light is on
