Freaking out about a friends car I hit!!!?

Hi time to advise them as they insist that it is going to cost this amount. that you are going to do it through the insurance now as it has become to expensive.

then listen to what happens for as sure as chickens lay eggs they will drop it.

knowing full well with such an old car the insurance company will classify there car as scrapped. so they will see nothing like that sort of money.

so call there bluff on this one.

Your mate is ripping you off but then it was your fault, get him to get 3 estimates and see them in writing and you tell him where to get it repaired or go through the insurance, make sure he gets it repaired and not pocket the money

Just one other thing if you go through the insurance they are likely to write the car off being 18 yrs old and he'll not get £300 for it so barter him down offer

what is the car worth £200 £300 buy it off him and scrap it you'll get a £100 in scrap value at least you'll get some money back.

So theres your argument tell him to go through insurance there'll scrap the car or you buy the car for £200 and scrap it and get a £100 back

you say that you struck your friends vehicle ,ie front bumper to front bumper , which side of the vehicles are damaged, the third party will need to have a max of 3 quotes invoices of the cost of repairs and its your decision on which one of them you are willing to pay for ,meaning the lowest quote . and that excludes the repair of the damaged door. if you both choose to involve your insurance company in which its rather too late ,as you need to report an incident within 24hours and no later, this will result in fraud and cancellation of both party insurers. if this incident happend on private land it would be classed as a knock for knock as neither of you have prove of any damaged that has been caused .its your word for his word. what you need to do is write or record any verbal against your friend "record the conversation that you both are having." verbally not electronically.. you cannot record some-ones conversation without their permission ..anything you say may be given in as evidence...if i was you ,i wouldnt bother doing anything about it, as its too late..

This is a question and answer forum about car problems not problems with young drivers not being able to handle this sort of situation in a stable manner or their parents feelings about it.

No one but you can help you. Just get on with it and confront these people with the truth.

About 5 days ago I hit my friends car, I was reversing out and turned too quickly and hit both mine and their front bumper off I also hit a side light casing too. I said I would pay for the damage and when I left there were no dents in the car.. I should have taken pictures but I didn't!! Now all of a sudden four days later miraculously a dent has appeared and for the whole damage it will cost me £300 when I never put a dent in the door! Their asking for a respray.. Oh did I mention their car is 18 years old? I said I'm only paying for the damage I know I did, I have one of my friends their when it happened and she said there was no dent either otherwise we would have noticed it. I'm just freaking out, luckily we aren't going through insurance but I'm just freaking out about how they will take it. I know I didn't hit the door, and it's funny they are now saying a dent is there when the next day after it happened they confirmed it was only the front bumper and light. I'm just so stressed about it and don't know what to do?!? Mum and dad are so pissed with me!! Help!!!:(
