Typical for a diesel,
they don't have chokes but do need a little help starting cold,
And they're meant to idle a little higher when started from cold.
though it wouldn't be a bad idea to get all four glow plugs checked.
might be one is weak.
That would account for a small amount of dark smoke,
Only one cylinder running cold.
Black smoke = Too much petrol.
Typical on a cold start, just check it clears afterwards. As for the revs, could simply be a slightly gunged-up idle sensor.
Why not have a scan run for fault codes. Though diesels are typical black smoke on start up.. If this was happening before? We have an issue.
Surging at idle is often due to air leak , faulty sensor. Faulty idle speed control valve etc.
Here is where a scan can point to correct area needing sorting.
Hi im getting a slight bit of blacksmoke when I start my car in the morning and when its idling the revs go up ever so slighty ever 3 seconds or so its not bad at all but its noticable almost like a slightly rough idle the car drives fine and the performance is not affected in any way but im just worried a problem might be on its way...
any ideas please?
