Every how long should you change oil in car?

It used to be 3000 miles, in fact long ago it was less. But oil has gotten better. It used to be 3000 miles, and change the filter every other time. Now BOTH car manufacturers and oil manufacturers say 5000 miles. Oil changing places, of course, pretend they never got the memo (but yours did so good for them!)

Google 'The 3000 Mile Myth' and you'll see!

According to my Owners Manuel and my Authorized Chevy Dealership my oil is to be changed every 5,000 miles or 12 months, which ever comes first. They also use the 5w30 regular oil.

Depends on your driving style, but I ALWAYS change at 3,000 just to be safe. All my cars have had well over 180k before I got rid of them, and one has had 250K!

look in your owners manual

newer cars need it changed from 6500 to 10,000 miles

I went to my local dealership today to get an oil change, I always get the $30 regular oil change and I think synthetic is $60. Anyway, the sticker on the windshield said I needed an oil change again in 5,000 miles , but if I got regular oil and not synthetic isn't it supposed to be in the next 3,000 miles? They used 5w30 oil. Is that synthetic or regular oil?
