In Japan that car was sold with a 2.5 L V6 engine (KL-ZE )
~200 HP vs the 125 it has now.
Because it was a "factory" engine it should be relatively easy to fit and certify.
you could always do a 13b-t swap, ive seen a couple people do this with the 626 online and its a pretty cool swap, other then that you could prolly fit a 4g63 in it but would probably take a little more work
Hi so number one it is a worn engine that is where the problem lies. worn and old.
so sticking a supercharger or a turbo on an old engine only does one thing wreck it quicker than if you had left it alone. so new engine or scrap the old car.
So I drive a '97 Mazda 626 (Gen-F).
It's easily overlooked but I wanted to do something different in terms of make a statement out of a car.
So instead of going rice and whipping the ugliest plastic bodykits and spoilers on a '94 Civic, or buying the biggest supercharger to fit into a VE Commodore (mostly cos I'm on P's, and the family already has a few track cars), I wanted to make my 626 into a sort of JDM Weapon (so White wrap, a black lip, JDM spec parts, and maybe a new set of non-chromie rims) but I only lack the weapon part.
So I have never heard of the potential of the FS-DE engine it has, and I wanted to look into a swap, only I have no idea where to start (not like you can slam an RB25 or LS1 in there, though I wish you could XD ).
Now somepeople told me to burn the car down for the better, but I thought otherwise (especially since the last and only owner was my dad and it has no damage done to it whatsoever, and only done 92000 kM's.
Any ideas anyone? or advice?
PS this will be a project to turn into an everyday car that also has some grunt, not looking for 500hp swaps or mods, but yeah, and the budget is 5-10K over the span of 3-4 years :)
