You better try using a hand applied wax that you buff off after applying. White paint needs wax or the car will start rusting. Buy a car with semi-metalic paint if you don't care to hand wax it and don't pay to have it done.
Really not worth it
Not the best investment. Like Ben says it's made to last a week or so. Keeps you comming back for more. The better waxes will be multi stage aplications or more expensive usually. I like spray waxes for prolonging the finish, but still find that a good cream wax rubbed on and buffed off is needed at least once a year.
One week in really clean environment (garage). It all depends on how much dust, pollen and tree sap is accumulated on your vehicle. I use the gas station car wash with the works (hot wax included) and it lasts about 1 week. For $9 it is a great investment, as a professional car wax detail can cost $150 or more. You can use a long/tube duster every two days to extend the look.
How long does those car wax from drive-thru car wash last?
