Does this sound like a reasonable quote from my mechanic?

The noise can be caused by struts. But on Chryslers it can also be worn stabilizer end links. The parts are fairly inexpensive and he has to remove one end of each link to remove the strut, so you've already paid for half the labor. Ask him to quote on replacing thsoe as well.

Otherwise, the quote seems very reasonable.

The price sounds about right but he should've estimated both inner tie rods. You want to replace these in pairs. The alignment will not be correct when the one he didn't replace wears out and that always seems to happen soon after repairs are done on steering parts.

Strut rods? or macpherson struts. the price looks like macpherson struts. strut rods should be less if so equipped. The creak could also be sway bar links or bushings. maybe a second opinion for finding the cause of your specific complaint is in order.

yeah that is about right. most places would probably charge even more. btw none of those things are that urgent. you can live with bad strut rods and bad tie rods. as long as he doesn't try to sell you a johnson rod. (seinfeld)

I have a 2009 Chrysler with 90,000 miles. I took my car to the service station for an oil change. The mechanic saw a problem and recommended the following work on the front of my car:

2 Strut Rods w/ labor = $327.70

1 Inner Tie Rod End w/labor = $127.05

Alignment = $79.95

Total Quote: $534.70

Does this sound legit? I'm a young, single woman so I always worry about mechanics trying to take advantage of me. But I did think something was wrong with the front shocks or something in that area of my car. Whenever I go over a bump the front of the car creaks. So I wasn't surprised that the problem is in the front of the car.

Do you think I should have this work done or does it sound like I'm being scammed? I live in California to give you an idea of service costs.

Thanks for your help!
