First of all, it always helps to tell us the make, model, and year of the car, so we can use our experiences.
Second is that I don't understand why you mentioned hitting the curb?
Third is that if the hood or gas cap flap is already open, the what good would pulling the release lever?
There is always a second release, that can be reached under the hood.
If the spring is weak, you have to have someone lift up on the hood while you pull the release lever.
Why not have the dealership look at it?
It could not possibly be natural if it looks unlatched or can move at all.
When you "lightly" hit the curb, you "lightly" bent the structure underneath. Some would call it "frame damage".
Be prepared to pay a huge bill for the damage.
have someone that knows a little about cars help you.
Im using a loaner car from the dealer ship because our new car had issues and they are taking like 2 months to fix it. so anyways this morning i go to school pull up into a parking space and LIGHTLY hit the curb the front is defiently higher then the curb so i didn't see any scratches or dings or anything.
got out of the car i see the gas cap popped open and the hood popped up. im NOT sure if they were like that recently. i tried to pop the hood open using the button/lever it did NOT want to open tried to push the hood down it would not close.
i drove home and the hood didn't fly open or anything so it is locked however im wondering is this natural? i have NEVER seen this happen before.
