Does a car last forever if you keep fixing it?

There are cars that are in good running condition and look factory new, that are 100+ years old out there.

A '99 Honda with good maintenance should last you many more years.

There does come a point where it may cost more to repair a car then the car is worth (not including any sentimental value you may have for it.)

My 1974 Karmann Ghia is still going strong. And Honda makes a good, reliable car too.

It can literally go forever if you are willing to put the money into it. Eventually everything will need to be replaced or rebuilt.

At some point, though, most people realize that the repair will cost more than buying another, newer used car that doesn't have a half million miles on it.

Japanese cars can last a very long time. Keep in mind, however, that after many years, the engines sometimes will burn oil. So keep an eye on it. Yes, it's a pain in the *** to be constantly putting in oil, but it's only $4 a quart, and it beats having to buy a new engine, or a new car.

If you keep throwing money at the car it will last FOREVER. The problem is when one repair costs more than the valued of the car - or if the repairs occur so often you no longer 'trust' the car to get you to where you are going or refuse to take it on long trips.

No- after about 10 years it can start to rust out even if the engine still runs. Repairs get more expensive the longer you own. 10 years with good maintence is about all you can expect. There are exceptions however to every rule- e.g., climate, how much you drive it, etc.

To a point. In most cases, what gets missed is the Body. Engine, trans and everything else is replaceable. The auto-Body is something that gets missed. But if you can keep on top of that and keep rust from happening you should be good for a good while. It will NEVER cost as much as a new vehicle.

I have a 1999 Honda Accord that's is still reliable. However, i do regular maintenance and fix every repair that come up as soon as possible. How long do you think this car will last me
