transmission fluid is just that changing transmission fluid not repairing a problem. same with the differential. noise could be coming from the wheel bearings and not the diff. find local shop at ATRA.COM leave it for the day and they'll give you a free diag on what's wrong and go from there
Front Diff is not part of the transmission, it is separate from it.
Not sure I would bother with injectors, they really dont fail that often. The valves in the engine do have issues on Subarus & head gaskets leaking is also a common issue on Subaru's
But its funny that all those idiots in the GM forums blame Dex-Cool for tearing up the head gaskets when Subaru has bad head gasket issues worse than GM & it doesnt use anything that resembles Dex-Cool. Go Figure
if the fluid had not been changed in a long time, like 60,000 plus, that can lead to a clutch pack failure.
I recently bought an 02 Subaru Outback. I noticed its running a bit rough at times. I've noticed it when the transmission is in gear. I have changed the spark plugs. I am going to change the fuel injectors this week, just as a routine thing since its a used car. I have noticed this rough manner, as well as a soft whine when coming from a stop. I believe this to be the front differential, which I also believe to be located within the transmission. I'm going to change the rear diff fluid as well, just for the hell of it. It has 213,000 miles. I am not entirely sure how often the trans fluid was changed. All and all, it feels like the very beginning of some major problems, that I believe can be helped by a fluid change, which I want to do anyway since its a used car. However, I also don't want to do this if I am at the point of no return because I am having these issues, because I really don't have much money, and would be biking everywhere until I muster up the money to fix it. If it would make it fail, as much as I hate this, I would rather let it eat itself up over some time, so I can save money to fix it.
