No, that 3 month thing is a throwback to the straight weight oil days. Every 3K miles is fine unless you drive a truck and tow a trailer, then I would go 2K on the oil change with regular engine oil. You didn't give year / make info so this Q can have many answers. Newer cars with synthetic oil can go 5K+ miles between oil service.
Check your owner's manual or call the car dealer.
Three months is just crazy. Without knowing what make, model, and year your car, truck, or moon rover is we are at a loss to know exactly what it should be, but the owner's manual or service info that came with the car should say. Typical is 5000 miles or 6 months.
I keep up on maintenance of my vehicle but i got my license a few months ago.And while i had my permit i had a job to keep my vehicle going normal and what not.And i did not even put a 500 miles on it in a 1 year period.when i got my license i had an oil change looking at the sticker it said to change at 3/7/14 and it is....5/9/14 i have not put more than 1000 miles on it.
But have driven it maybe 3times a week sometimes only 1.I am very short on cash as well i dont make much and i pay most of my bills as im told to do so.This week i was going to get a new phone and stuff but should i get my oil changed and just forget about the phone or is the 3 month rule just over maintenance?
