My big concern is for the intake manifold gaskets in your Century. GM V6 and V8 engines from 1996 to 2004 or early 2005 had intake manifold gaskets that were dissolved by Dexcool, which was (and is) mandated by GM. See the source. 2001 is just at the right age for the problem to surface. GM settled a class action suit over it but the window for claims closed a few years ago. Gaskets made since 2005 are not affected.
Your thermostat may be stuck closed, or your fans are not working, or you have a hole in a hose or other component, or warped a head or cracked a head or cracked a block. You should not drive it anymore at all until it is fixed.
There is definitely something wrong here. Chances are good that the cooling fan(s) are not working. Have it checked out.
This could be your engine coolant temperature sensor or your thermostat causing your car to overheat. Those are typically the issues for domestic vehicles like yours. If you added coolant when you did not need any, it could have over filled your reservoir. Check to see if in fact it over flowed out of your reservoir just to be safe.
If you have coolant on the ground then you have a leak and just adding coolant will only delay the inevitable. First check your hoses. See if they are loose or damaged. Next check the radiator front and back. While you were driving something could have hit your radiator puncturing it. Next on your water pump should be a small hole. This is called a weep hole. Start the engine and watch to see if coolant comes out of that hole. If there is then your water pump is defective and needs to be replaced. Next check your radiator cap. That cap has a seal on bottom and if it is damaged or broken it will allow coolant to pass it.
Ok so the car is a 2001 Buick century. the reservoir is weird in the way you cant see how much coolant you have left. so when i was driving earlier it the temp was a little warmer than usual so i just added the remainder of the bottle in the reservoir. Later i went to a restaurant that was about 5 miles away and the car was almost overheated i parked for a second and all of the coolant was on the ground. Luckily i made it back home however should i add more coolant?
And the car does not usually leak anything
