The test is to put the battery on a charger, (for a few hours) and then see if the car starts. If it does, the battery is OK, but you have some other problem.
Once the car is running, measure the battery voltage again, It should be about 14 volts. This means the battery is being recharged by the alternator. If it's only reading ~12 volts, then the battery is not being charged, and it will soon go flat again.
If the battery is being charged, then turn off the car and check the current being drawn from the battery. If this is more than a few milli-amps (to power the clock etc), then something is running the battery flat and you need to track that down, usually by pulling fuses until you find what it is.
No.
From everything I have read here, your battery is severely discharged. Disconnect the negative connector from the battery. Charge the battery with a battery charger, for 12 to 24 hours. Put the negative cable back on the battery. Start the car. Measure the battery voltage. It should be around 14.4 volts. If it is, turn on the headlights. It should stay close to 14.4 volts. Turn on the heater blower on high. The battery voltage should stay around 14.4 if the alternator is charging properly. If voltage stays around 12, or drops below 12 your alternator is not charging. Look further into the alternator problem.
Just start the car and take the positive cable off the battery. If it dies your charging system is not working. Go to advanced auto or any parts store and they can check it for free. They will also jump your car when it stalls out.
Easy test: With the car in PARK & just sitting, engine running, check the voltage across the posts on the battery. IF the voltage is like 14.6 volts, then the alternator is working fine. IF the voltage is only 12 volts, then the alternator is NOT working.
Take it back to Autozone and have them test it - Sounds like your charging system is at fault.
Get a full charge on your battery. If there are no other problems it should be ok. If it goes dead agin, then you have a short somewhere.
Has your STARTER been checked?????
Recharge the battery, and if it still wont turn over, the starter could be worn out.
its the alternator. have that replaced, might need to recharge the battery. do that afterwards though.
This is what happens when you buy that generic ****! you need to roll out some heavy dough on your batteries..... i spend millions on my ecig batteries and they blow huge cloud so you need to buy a good one for your car so your car run smooth.... rreal talk hoe........ tell your mechanic to sell you the good good... ps download my mixtape! that **** fire
When I try to start my car it makes a clicking noise. My battery is brand new but when I had it tested the Mechanic said it showed up at 6.3V or something. He told me to get the battery charged. If that doesn't work does anyone know what the problem may be? Thanks in advance.
