Do I need a new Valve Body or a new Transmission?

Before you install anything, have the dealer do an adaptation teach in procedure. Kinda like a reboot. That's always the first step on shifting problems on this transmission.

If that doesn't work, try the new valve body. If it still doesn't work, drive it directly to the junk yard. A new transmission is $9,000 and few places rebuild them cuz they can't get the parts.

is this a joke lol? 200 for the fluid come on.... shouldn't take that much lol. you cant just replace the valve body without needing other gaskets too....

the problem is transmissions are very complex and just assuming valve body isn't a certain diagnosis..the valves could be sticking. id drive it till it got to the point that the engine was really having to over rev before it would shift.. then just get a used transmission for about 350 bucks at a junk yard with a small warranty.. a lot cheaper and you don't gotta mess with it right now.

just double check your transmission fluid is proper level... you check it while engine is running and in neautral with emergency brake on. on flat level ground.

or take it in for a diagnoses first.... you should have done that before wasting money, and if you paid 1000 for a valve body wow...... maybe where you live pricing is way way way way way different than it is here lol lol

BMW is in category that requires a mechanic that specializes in BMW. Works and knows this model. Your guessing with valve body. Take vehicle to a reputable repair shop only. car talk.com or the auto channel.com for reputable shops in your area.

Kinda like a reboot

Explain in more detail please.

I have a 2005 Mini Cooper S. It has 123,000 miles. Four days after I bought it, it started shifting rough. It only does it after it gets a chance to warm up. After about 10 mins of driving is when it starts. It does it when it gets to about 2700 RPM when shifting between the first two or three gears then it stops. It also only does it if I lightly press the gas. If I hit the gas harder it seems the shift will little or no problem. I bought a new valve body which was very pricey. Over $1000 for the part and $200 for transmission fluid. Now it will cost $500 to get it put on. So I want to get second opinions before I spend more money.
