Differences between gaskets?

You need an "oil pan gasket." It will be the same shape as the oil pan where all the bolt holes are. It may be one piece or two piece. It may be flat gasket material or it may be like a huge "O" ring that fits in a groove all around the pan. You DO NOT need chain case gasket or cylinder head gasket.

What's a gasket?

Gasket for what?

all you need is the oil pan gasket. not the whole gasket kit.

My oil pan needs to be replaced for my 2008 Honda Civic. I was told that in addition to having the oil pan replaced, I also need the gasket to be replaced. I am confused between two products. What is the difference between:

GASKET KIT, CHAIN CASE

and

GASKET KIT, CYLINDER HEAD

Which one do I need? I doubt the I need the cylinder head, but I need assurance, Thank you.

neither one. the gasket your looking for WILL be called an oil pan gasket.
