That last connection can spark, igniting battery gasses. That's why the last connection is made away from the battery. I make the last connection to the engine of the dead car. Usually to a bracket holding the alternator or something.

Bill is correct. Probably not a problem with new maintenance free batteries with no venting, but that's just the safe way to do it, if this is a serious question.

You did it right. As long as red goes to red, and black goes to black, you jumped the car correctly.

This is what i did step by step

Red positive battery connects to working car and then connect to dead car

Then black negative battery connects to working car then connect negative on dead car

Hows that wrong?
