Sounds like a good deal. It depends on what was done. You can get a A/C Recharge and Dye kit for about $40-$50, but you would have to know what you're looking for. The only down side to that, is you don't want to overfill it either, doing so can cause seals to go.

If an actual evac/recharge was done, that is cheaper than what I charged in the past. It usually entails taking all the old freon/oil out (evac) and recharging it with the proper mixed amount; we used to charge $120 for that.

The dye was to check for leaks. The evacuation/recharge was to remove existing fluid and refill. No, you did not get ripped off.

Did you have the knowledge and equipment to add the freon yourself? If not, that was a very reasonable price.

The guy said that I was really low on Freon.. he ended up charging me $77.00
