They can sell a vehicle with a broken odometer or one in excess of its mechanical limits, but they have to disclose that fact by law.
They broke the law and you bought a POS that you have no idea what the mileage is of the vehicle. Take it back immediately or you will be sorry that you didn't. They need to replace the deal with a vehicle of your choice or give your money back.
The odometer and speedometer can easily be fixed. Ask the dealer to send it in to *United Radio in Syracuse NY.
The odometer is not the only place that records the mileage the car has gone. If you have the right computer program you can get the mileage out of the cars computer. So did they lie to you, I don't know. I would think the issues of a non working odometer would be a problem in a state that has state inspections and this should be addressed at there expense. The only way to find out is to go back and make it know it is not operational.
Carfax can track the cars history and should reveal the actual mileage or at least snap shots of mileage at particular points in it's history .
Tell them they can fix the odometer or you'll be forced to run Carfax and return the car if there is any discrepancy in the stated mileage .
I bought a car yesterday from a dealer and the mileage was written down but the odometer doesn't work hasn't moved since I bought it and drove it home is there anything I can do about it? On the other page the dealer checked "I certify that, to the best of my knowledge, this odometer reading reflects the "" actual mileage"" of the vehicle described above." Could I get them to atleast fix the odometer? Thank you
