Cutting Catilytic converter off/straight pipe?

It will have no effect, it won't be louder, it won't be better, and it won't turn on any engine lights because it does not have OBD2 emissions. There is absolutely no point doing it unless you're broke and you want to sell the cat, it's worth about $150. to scrap dealer. In the long run though it could cost you a lot more if you ever have to put it back on.

The car is DESIGNED to run at it's most efficent WITH the cat. Taking it off will just make it louder NOT better. It is also ILLEGAL in most places in the world to drive a car that is classified as having a cat without one. So expect it to get impounded by the first cop that stops you because of the noise.

Just DON'T do it it is not big, clever or good in ANY way at all!

Removing the cat converter will cause the computer to show a malfunction, probably in the form of a check engine light - and will do more harm than good. Also, if you live in a State where there are smog inspections, your vehicle would automatically fail an inspection

Go ahead and just cut off all those pesky exhaust pipes, they only slow you down. Sell the cat to a salvage for $150 and go buy some liquor. Get drunk and go out and drive like that Mario Andretti guy.

Yes you can take it off, however you will need to put it back on for MOT as it may fail emissions without it. Double check your car does not have both pre and post cat sensors some cars do have this

I have a 94 Accord LX and the o2 sensor is before the cat. So I'm just trying to double check but taking the cat off then shouldn't affect gas mileage or overall performance for should it?(well besides possibly making it a tad better.)
