Creamy oil in the oil cap for a long time but no damage occur?

Hi the usual problem when owned by some one who never gets the engine hot. yes as surprising at it sounds this car has never got really hot. due to short journeys like most women do.

so change the coolant and flush the system.replace the coolant with new. change the oil and oil filter and every week give it a blast down the road for at least 10 miles.it will not then get the cream appearing.

simple fact of life when engines don't burn off the condensation in the system.

There is water in the oil caused by condensation caused by short runs and lack of oil changes I'd guess she doesn't know what a service or an oil change is.

Suggest you use a flushing/cleaning oil in the engine with filter changes, 2-3 times, then use proper oil in it with another filter change

Short trips are usually the cause. Wipe the crud out of the cap and give the car an oil and filter change. If you use fully synthetic oil it is very unlikely to recur. Asda and Tesco sell 5w-40 at half the price of branded oil (£20). It is to full specification and vastly superior to the old mineral oils.

Could just be a combination of a lot of short journeys and a lack of maintenance. Get it serviced and see if it comes back, if in doubt get the cooling system pressure tested for leaks.

GIVE CAR NAME< model year, engine SIZE and COUNTRY OF ORIGIN! REMOVE ALL THE GUNK On the OIL FILL CAP with a CLOTH or CLEANER SPRAY and start OVER with a clean fill cap! If SHORT trips are used, or the PCV VALVE is CLOGGED UP< bad OIL ACIDS and water vapors are NI|OT removed by VACUUM! And the OIL and air humidity cause this FOAMY GOO to appear and STAY THERE! It depends upon there OIL TYPE and BRAND you are using, and the COOLANT used as wel! if this is a GM car made between 1996-2003, it is SOMETHING ELSE< like a failed INTAKE GASKET or even a dissolved plastic INTAKE RUNNER! GOOD LUCK!<<>>>

post miles.

on some cars, it,s the gasket in the intake manifold that leaks similar to how a hg leaks.

interesting it,s not losing fluids nor overheating.

just to check, I,d have the test down where a the radiator cap is removed and collection tube is placed over the opening to collect gases.

that can reveal a coolant-oil mix showing gasket probs.

beware of testers creating false positives. 2nd opinion.

You will soon find out when the engine completely seizes and quits running. Then you'll have a gigantic doorstop on your hands.

it is just condensation. it will be fine.

My girlfriend has just given me her old car, it's an 03 plate clio. About a year or so ago I checked the oil cap just out of curiosity and I came across white this gunky oil around the cap, I warned her about it but she wasn't bothered, anyway over the course of a year there has been no change, it still remains thick and creamy. The car has been used everyday without fail since I found the oil like this and has run absolutely fine, no over heating, no warning lights, no loss of water, no loss of oil. Is there any other reason the oil may be like this than head gasket? The oil has been checked in cold, warm, wet and dry conditions and has remained the same. Any ideas anyone?
