If you can't find the leak take it to a mechanic and have the cooling system pressure tested so they can advise you how to repair it before you overheat the motor. If you had mentioned what kind of vehicle it is and what size motor we could have given you some common areas to look that might be leaking!
since we have no idea where the coolant is going, any answer is a guess. You could have a leaking hose, radiator, reservoir tank or a head gasket problem.
look for signs of dried coolant and see if you can spot the leak.
if no leak found try a compresion leak test with the radiator cap off !!!satety first !!! do it when the car is cold. look for bubbles in the radiator ; excesive wetness out of tailpipe? could be blown head gasket good luck;)
service it time to time..
We've had to refill our coolant twice in a span of 2-3 weeks but before we never had to refill it this often. After the first time we changed our coolant, we had visited a shop to get an oil change and they typically do a check on everything but they didn't mention anything about leaks or anything like that but maybe they just didn't look into that, I don't know.
Anyways, should we take it into the shop to get it checked out? How much would this cost? Or can we fix this at home?
