He's right - a supercharger makes cold air intake superfluous. The charge gets compressed the same either way. In fact, for the same reason the air filter makes no difference.
You'll see NO improvement in performance. You already have a cold air intake from the factory and it's tuned to your engine. Rip it off and put in an aftermarket unit and you'll actually lose power. Read this article on why aftermarket cold air intakes don't deliver

If you want to make a difference run the compressed air through a air to air cooler before it goes into the engine. Everyone knows that compressing air produces heat and it would be better to induct cool air into the cylinders so you would get the max expansion when it is lit off. Look at any heavy duty truck and you will see a air to air cooler in front of the radiator, they must know something you car guys don't.
your mechanic is right.. many of those intakes dont get to the amount of hp stated without a ECU flash or reprogram. at best to might get 3-5HP to the wheels most likely less than 3
jj above is correct.
he is talking about an
intercooler
however, they DO take up a lot
of space under the hood.
I have a 2004 grand prix gtp supercharged and wanted to put a cold air intake on it. But my mechanic said I really wouldn't get a noticeable power difference. He said it would do the same thing if I just put a good air filter on. Im just wondering what other people have done and what they think. Thank you.
