The fans are actuated by other means, so replacement is not necessary.
You will have to take the car in and have the electrical system hooked up to the computer.
It may be as easy as one switch stuck in the *open* position, a faulty breaker, or shorting connection.
The codes themselves allow the price of repairs to be much lower because
most any problem will not need to be chased-after over a 2 week period --- and, HEY .... Good Luck!
This is a pretty complicated system. Two fans and three relays. Click on the link below and scroll down to the wiring diagram. Click on it to download a pdf of the system. Once you understand exactly how it works, you can diagnose test and replace the correct relay or fuse

My engine light has came on code PO480 dealing with the fans on my 00 Grand Prix gt there running all the time when car is shut off which caused my battery to drain completely...would replacing the fans fix this problem?Or could I have a shortage in the wires?
